About Miss Universe Romania Beauty Pageant
Miss Universe Romania has a goal to promote not only beauty and talent, but also self-confidence, education, and healthy living. It is essential for a Romanian representative on Miss Universe beauty pageant to be a smart, educated, ambitious young woman who will be a great role model for all young women around the world. We want to encourage and empower young women to realize that they are capable of accomplishing anything they dream about. Miss Universe Romania is looking to help these young ladies understand the importance of community service and become ardent advocates of a better world and meaningful interpersonal relationships. We hope that this experience will bring them much more than a title and help them gain self-respect as well as respect for others, and instill in them a desire to be the best representatives of their country.
The very beginning of Miss Universe in Romania goes back to 1929 when Magda Demetrescu won and then took sixth place in Miss Universe in Texas. The following year, Mariana Mirica was placed third. Romania participated in Miss Universe contest until 1936, but then there was a pause until 1991 when Daniela Nane represented Romania on Miss Universe in Las Vegas, United States.

Between 1999 and 2008 Romania also did not take part in the contest, but since then it has had its representative almost every year.
Miss Universe is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. It is an annual event run by the United States-based Miss Universe Organization. This pageant has live TV coverage that is broadcasted in more than 190 countries around the world which makes it the biggest world beauty pageant. The Miss Universe Organization is currently in the ownership of WME/IMG talent agency. The goal of this pageant is to celebrate women of all cultures and backgrounds and to help them be a voice that will represent a positive change in the world. The current Miss Universe is Andrea Meza from Mexico, who has recently been crowned at the 69th edition of the Miss Universe global pageant.
The current Miss Universe Romania is Miss Carmina Cotfas, a lovely and talented young lady who will represent our country at the jubilee 70th edition of Miss Universe in December 2021. The event will be held in Eliat, Israel!
Each year, the lucky winner of this pageant gets to take home a highly-coveted prize. Not only does this lady receive clothes, jewelry, and cosmetics, but she is also housed in New York for free during the year of her “reign”, receives a salary, and has access to exclusive events.
However, the real value of this prize lies in the opportunity to use being Miss Universe for a good cause and advocating for people in need. That is what makes this title prestigious, and what entices hundreds of young women from all across the globe to try and win it.
